History

A four-piece band with members from UP and UST. The Ridleys, composed of Benny Manaligod (vocals, songwriter, guitarist), Jan de Vera (backup vocals, guitarist, Joric Canlas (bassist), and Bryant Ayes (drummer) whose goal is to tell stories through songs. The band has released 2 EPs so far, and is planning to release an full-length album in the future.

The band started out as a nameless trio. Benny has been writing songs since 2012 (click here!) but he never performed them publicly (he only shared them to his close friends). In 2015, he was given an opportunity to perform them in public (at UP Town Center) for the first time, but he was hesitant. He called his best friend, Bry, and his schoolmate, Jan, to perform with him. That how it all started.

At the start of 2016, we had the opportunity to record an EP with Kian Ransom (from The Ransom Collective). We recorded some of his songs from his collection and released them online last March 2016 as 'Aphrodite EP'.

Last September 9, 2017, we released our second EP, 'From Morning Light/'Till Break of Dawn'. This time, we had a launch at Route 196 to celebrate this milestone with our friends and family. It was our first event ever, and it was heartwarming, receiving wonderful comments from them. That night was wonderful!

Joric

Joric Canlas, the bassist. The youngest but the tallest member of the band. He is one hell of a bassist.

Can: DRIVE AT HYPERSPEED, slap that bass, eat all the leftovers

Can't: forget her

He is currently a chemical engineering student at UST.

If you go to one of our gigs and you see a car parking at 60kph, that's us, and Joric is the one driving.

He is also part of another band called Over October

Bryant

The drummer of the band, Bryant Ayes, or Bry. The thinnest member of the band.

Can: Bargain in 168 for u, play ping pong, get straight A's, play 13257098325618 instruments, make mini models of houses, PLATES, chops(ticks), make you fall in love

Can't: make any promises so don't expect

He is an architecture student at UST. He's part of Team No Sleep because of plates

If you go to one of our gigs and you see a thin guy either sleeping or doing plates, that's probably Bry.

Jan

Jan de Vera, the lead guitarist of the band. The member with the longest hair.

Can: harana, shred, scroll on FB for hours (KAHIT TULOG)

Can't: lift

He is an electrical engineering student at UP Diliman.

If you go to our gigs and you see a guy with long hair and has rapper hands (blame Hamilton), that's him.

Benny, unlike the other members, is already a graduate. He's currently working as a campus missionary at CCF.

If you go to our gigs and you see a guy... idk what does he do? Ah, if you see a fanboy on stage, that's him... most probably.
